Vehicle definitions

1. Motorcycles are:
 

- a two wheeled motor vehicle and includes a motorcycle with a trailer, forecar or sidecar attached.

2. Cars are:
 

- a motor vehicle other than one of the other 4 types (Utes with a gross vehicle mass less than 1.5 tonnes are classified as Cars).

3. Light Commercial Vehicles are:
 

- a two axle rigid truck with a gross vehicle mass more than 1.5 tonnes but less than 4.5 tonnes

4. Heavy Commercial Vehicles are:
 

- a rigid truck with 3 or more axles,
- any articulated truck,
- a bus,
- a two axle rigid truck with a gross vehicle mass over 4.5 tonnes,
- or any motor vehicle with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 30 tonnes.

5. Taxis are:
 

- a motor vehicle licensed to operate as a Taxi-Cab. For more details on how Taxis will be tolled, contact Connect East.

Notes:

- 'Motor vehicle' has the meaning given in the Road Safety Act/1986

- 'Truck' means a motor vehicle which has a cab chassis construction and has a gross vehicle mass of more than 1.5 tonnes.
