About EastLink:Urban design:

Noise walls

Noise walls along EastLink have been designed with architectural creativity and protect residents from excessive noise generated by traffic.

The design considers the visual impact on both sides of the noise walls for residents and motorists.

Drawing inspiration from the highly acclaimed noise walls on the Eastern Freeway extension, the EastLink walls feature a variety of panels in either charcoal or off-white pigmented concrete with fractured or rock textured patterns.

In some sections, the concrete panels are combined with transparent acrylic panels. The acrylic panels are used to protect significant views along the corridor.

Of the 39km length of the motorway, about 25km has noise walls ranging in height from three to 11 metres.
