About EastLink:Environment:

Net gain - native vegetation

In addition to the many environmental works being undertaken along the EastLink corridor, $1.3 million is being spent to improve native vegetation in Victoria. This more than compensates for the clearing undertaken as part of the EastLink Project.

The funding will protect and improve two parcels of land at Burdett's Quarry in Langwarrin and Barnbam Swamp in Cranbourne as conservation reservations.

This offset agreement delivers on the Victorian Government's policy of achieving a 'net gain offset' for native vegetation and will result in an overall improvement to Victoria's bushland.
