The urban design on EastLink encompasses all road structures including the project's 88 bridges. This is the largest bridge building program in Victoria's history.
Pedestrian bridges are clad in perforated steel panels and feature a 25m high skeletal tower to locate it within its environment. Each of these pedestrian bridges has its own colour ranging from shades of green to orange.
The road bridges are more restrained featuring dark beams and base structures with white 'pleated' barriers along the edges.
Some of the bridges support orange and green acrylic panels, connecting EastLink back to the colours found in the local flora.
A consistent defining characteristic of the road is its retaining walls and bridge abutments, which are brown and earth tones with rock patterns and shapes reflecting the natural landscape.
